pourquoi n'admet-on pas " The police was called to arrest the thief" puisqu'il peut s'agir d'un seul policier.

Hello,
Quand il s'agit d'un seul policier on parle de 'policeman/policewoman'
En outre un policier n'est jamais envoyé seul pour arrêter quelqu'un
