    Can you help me please?    ...why do we say the united states of America and not united states of America and Algeria not the Algeria?

    Hello,
    I live in France, Algeria, Morocco, England (countries in the singular, no the)
    I live in the US, the USA, The United States of America, The Netherlands, The United Arab Emirates, The United Kingdom (the names of these countries are plural, hence the "the" in front of them)
