    Account for/aide
    Message de kazan posté le 14-11-2014 à 04:26:40 (S | E | F)
    Hello everybody,
I 've always had trouble understanding "account for", as it has lots of meanings. In the following sentence, I would assume it stands for " se justifier face à", but I'm not quite sure it is a good translation. How would you translate it?

I get that making games is hard. That publishers force deadlines on teams, that accounting for millions of players is rough work, that a myriad of technical complexities mean completely eradicating bugs is an impossible task.

    Many thanks in advance.
    Pascal

    Bonjour Pascal
account for = taking into account/accommodating
Le sens n'est pas vraiment clair. It sounds like they need to account for many variables such as different operating systems (Mac, Windows, iOS, etc), different languages, and many other variables. It could also mean that people have many different desires/wishes/improvements that they'd like to see for the game and the programmers have to "account for" these desires. If I had to choose, I'd pick the former.
    J'espère vous avoir aidé

    Thank you notrepere
Your explanation is clear, that's what I was wanted to grasp. IMHO, In my humble opinion, I think your second proposition is the right guess. They have, they take the desires/ wishes of "gamers" into account.
    Have an excellent day sir
