    Unable to swim/swimming
    Message de g0llum posté le 28-12-2013 à 19:14:29 (S | E | F)
    Bonjour,
Après avoir lu l'article sur used to / be used to, je me demande sous quelle forme doit être le verbe après unable to. Doit-on dire "I am unable to swim" ou "unable to swimming" ?
    Merci pour votre aide.

    Hello.

I am unable to swim is correct. If you used swimming, you would write I am unable to go swimming. However, the meaning will be changed. The first means that you cannot swim or don't know how to swim. The second means that you cannot swim right now.

Thank you for having replied. I wrote "unable to getting" in an English exam and the teacher didn't say it was bad...

    Hello

"unable to getting" is definitely incorrect. "unable to get..." is OK. He is unable to get along with others.
