Hello,
"If I had had time, I would have visited him." is correct
Why use "had" twice ? The first had is the auxiliary verb, the second had is the past participle of the lexical verb have.
If I had got more time, I would have visited him.
If I had obtained more time, I would have visited him

Hello,
Remember that:
Third conditional: if +past perfect=====>would have+past partciple
Past perfect=had+past participle
If I had had(past participle of have) time,I would have visited him.
We can also write if I'd had time, I would have visited him.
I hope,it's clear!

Hello!
- If I had the time, I would visit him. (You may visit him)
- If I had had the time, I would have visited him. (You didn't visit him)
