    To be a day/meaning
    Message from agnie posted on 23-12-2012 at 00:07:53 (D | E | F)
    Hello,

Could you please tell me what does mean the expression "to be a day" means in a sentence?
How old is he? -Well to my mind, he is ninety if he's a day.
    Thank you for your answers.

    Hello

Could you please tell what does mean the expression "to be a day" means in a sentence: How old is he? -Well to my mind, he is ninety if he's a day.
It means that you think he is at least ninety years old. When you add "if he/she's a day", it means you think you are correct.
    Here's an example:
    - "Hey, how old do you think he is? I think he's about twenty."
    - "No, he's got to be at least thirty if he's a day!"
