    Other/Other one
    Message from littleteacher posted on 30-10-2012 at 22:57:44 (D | E | F)
    Hello!

I have a question about the word "other".
    Can you please help me?

Does "other" have to be followed by something, like a pronoun or a noun?
For example, are these sentences correct?
    1. I'd like to see the other car.
    2. I'd like to see the other.
    3. I'd like to see the other one.

    Thank you very much!

    Hello,

You can get a dictionary by clicking on a word (double click)
    Link

    I'd say that
    1. I'd like to see the other car....is ok
    2. I'd like to see the other....sounds odd
    3. I'd like to see the other one....is ok

Let's wait for our American friends...

    Hello

It depends on the situation, but "other" is usually followed by another word. When it's referring to time, it can be used alone.

I'm sure we'll see him at some time or other.
