    About had to
    Message from songta posted on 12-11-2011 at 15:39:30 (D | E | F)
    Hello,
i did in the past of active-passive voice and i don't understand something
    I don't understand these sentences:
active : He had to open the door
passive : the door had to be opened by him

I do not understand about " HAD TO " I just know about had + v.3 = past perfect but I have never seen had + infinitive.
How to use it please ?
and the meaning of had+ infinitive is ?

I am not good at English and I try all my best to practise myself.
    Thank you in advance ^^

    Hello,

To have to + infinitif is like "must"

He has to open the door = present of to have to (must)
he had to open the door =past of to have to (must)
    Here is a link:

    See you.
