    Hi,

    Allude*, not alude.

Double-click on each word and you'll get an online dictionary.

    Headway.

    Hello,

to allude begins with an a like the word allusion: to allude means to make an allusion to something.

to elude begins with an e, reminiscent of the latin word ex meaning out of, when you elude a question, when you elude a blow, you avoid it, you escape from it.
the difference is obvious for somebody who knows the latin origin of the words, but it is less obvious for you in Vietnam !

    Hello,

May I use elude this word in such a situation :
He asked me something concerning my private life, I eluded his question by answering him something else.
Is it correct? Your suggestion will be very helpful.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

Elude is not the best choice in this context. I would use "evade".

    3) to avoid dealing with or talking about something

He asked me something concerning my private life, I eluded his question by answering him something else.
He asked me something about my private life but I evaded his question by changing the subject.

    Dear sir,

    Here are two sentences:
"He asked me something about my private life but I evaded his question by changing the subject."
"He asked me something about my private life but I ignored his question by changing the subject."

Would you please tell me the difference between these two sentences. Which one is more correct ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

Well, it's just not very nice to ignore somebody's question, is it?

And for Baouyen: you probably see clearly the difference between the two verbs when trying to put each of them in a sentence.
    Would you like to try?

Well, nobody ignored anyone I think...

    Hello

In my opinion, the construction "ignore .... by changing the subject" doesn't work.

You can say: dodged/sidestepped ... by changing

You could also say: He asked me something about my private life but I ignored/avoided his question and changed the subject.

    Hi,

Would that be correct to say:
He asked about my private life but I made a digression?

    Headway.

    Hello,

    Why not?
He asked about my private life but I digressed.
