Hello,
I met with a problem when doing my homework.
I don't know why this sentence-"It's no use crying over spilt milk" cannot be interpreted as "Never feel regret at what has been done."
Can you help me? Thank you.;)

Hello,
I suppose it is the part "never feel regret" that is wrong.
It's rather, "it is too late, no use mourning, but go on!"

bonjour
-"It's no use crying over spilt milk"
Ce qui est fait est fait .. inutile de pleurer dessus, passons à autre chose .
autrement dit : tout de suite après un échec , il faut positiver;comme souvent tout dépend du contexte.
-"It's no use crying over spilt milk"
Elle peut vouloir dire : Ici on n'a pas l'habitude de se lamenter en cas de problème .
On retrousse ses manches et on se met au travail ..

Hello!
See this page: Lien Internet
Your definition is close to the real meaning:
Never feel regret at what has happened because it is already done and cannot be changed.

Hello,
The point is you have all the right to feel regret about what and why haven't you done things you were supposed to do, then you would try to do it better rather than sitting and crying.
PS. Lucile forgot this is the "English forum" only
Good night!

Of course you can feel regret about the past. But there's no use dwelling on it or being depressed about it. What's done is done.
I wish we had married each other instead of other people; however, we each have our own family now, so there's no use crying over spilled milk.

I'm Italian and we have the same proverb; it means it's vain to cry over something that you can't change; you can't remedy spilt milk.

Hello
it is just like another saying: "live and let live"
meaning what has happened has happened, just accept it and move on. Do not dwell in the past because you cannot change it.
Hope that helped

Hi there,
There's no point in digging up the past, just move on... It's all in the past now.
