    what is the meaning of "a box-tree"?
    What kind of tree is it,if it is a tree...?

    Hello,
    Yes, it is a shrub; here are some pictures and links so that you can see what it is:

    The wood coming from that shrub is very hard and was used to make bowls for a game named petanque which is played in the South of France. Nowadays we use bowls made of metal, steel or bronze.

    I don't like playing petanque, it is too tiring! we have to walk and bend in a very hot sun for hours !
