Hi,
My name is Ruth, I am from Indonesia.
I feel so much helped with this website. I help me to refresh my grammer knowledges.
My test result of 21660 is not so good and the big problem is I can not differentiate utilisation of "even though" and "even if".
Could you explain it?
thanks,
Ruth

Even though = malgré le fait que
They lost the game. But even though they lost it, they can feel proud of their effort.
Even if = même au cas où
They may or may not have lost the game. But even if they lost it, they can feel proud of their effort.

hello
Here is a link.
Lien Internet
Even if
We use « even if » to express both a condition and a contrast.
« I'm going to finish this report even if it takes all night.»
That means : this report may or may not take all night, but I'm going to finish it.
Even though
« Even though » is more emphatic than « although »
« They allowed me to continue the course even though I failed the first-year exams.»
Compare « even if » and « even though »
Even if the rumour is untrue, people will still believe it.
(The rumour may or may not be true)
Even though the rumour is untrue, people will still believe it.
( The rumour is untrue)

Hello..
Question of grammar:
- Even if : même si (condition..)(cela ne m'empêchera pas d'agir)(I'll do it all the same)
- Even though (concession) : malgré le fait que, même si pourtant, quoique.(et il faut "faire avec"; we've got to do with it, anyway))
