    3- This verb means to take something away from somebody.To detract
    4- To go away so that other people do not know where one is. To disappear
    5- A synonym of "to hate".To detest , to dislike, to despise
    6- When you destroy disease-causing germs in, you disinfect
    7- A verb meaning to hold back and delay.To defer(postpone, put off)
    8- What do you call a terrible event, especially one that causes great damage, loss etc? A disaster
    9- When a government sends a person out of a country because he has committed a crime or because he is not officially supposed to be there, it deports
    10- A verb meaning to see or be able to tell a difference between things etc. To distinguish

    Thanks to some additional clues Marit has given me by MP, I've been able to fill in three gaps more.

    2- The opposite of "interested". disinterested
    (At first I thought about this solution but it sounded too easy! )
    6- When you destroy disease-causing germs in, you disinfect.
    7- A verb meaning to hold back and delay. detain

    As for the 3rd & the 9th ones, I haven't got any clue. I have a lot of French words in mind, but I can't find a matching English word beginning by D, even by the mean of a bilingual dictionary.
