A vos plumes courageuses, maintenant.

    Hello dear !
I don't hesitate any longer ! wowwww ;you're worse than that wonderful Betty

On one side a pretty woman, in her early thirties, fair-haired, in a smart short hair cut, with long lashes bordering her wide blue eyes as ingenuous as a child’s. Always fashionable and rather wisely dressed. Quite unpretentious she had left her native countryside to come close to the nearest big city where she had at once found a secretary job she was zealously holding down. Kind, always even tempered, she was everybody’s friend…especially men’s lusting after her ! But she did not think much of them, good as gold for she was dreaming of the perfect husband.
    Such was Marion.

On the other side, a very handsome man, more mature, sportive and smart, whose brown and thick hair was separated by a perfect part. His irresistible eyes were darker than a deep night. His blazing smile sucked in into two nice dimples. He did use all that in order to charm as many women as he could – in preference the so called unapproachable ones- whereas he had been married for four years and a half with the most perfect wife. He was lacking of ambition and did not look for anything better than that minor job in a grocery store, continuously grousing against his meager income.
    Such was Sam.

Had there not been that Friday 13th and those common friends, they would never have been invited together to that anti-superstition party and she would not have loved him “to life and to death” at the first glance !

    Hello

On one hand, an attractive woman, hardly around thirties, very well-kept short fair haired, wide-eyed blue, fringed by long lashes, as naive as a child's. She used to be coquettishly dressed and rather wisely. Quite natural she had left her native country to join the closest big city and had immediately found a job as secretary over there in which she was diligent. Pleasant, always good tempered, she was everybody's friend… especially the male sex lusting after her! But she thought nothing of them because she dreamed about the perfect husband.
    Such was Marion.

On the other hand, a very handsome man, more mature, sportive and chic, whose brown and thick hair was perfectly parted. His eyes were irresistible, darker than a deep night. His glowing smile grooved his cheeks in two charming dimples. He skilled in the use of all that in order to captivate as many women as he could –rather, the so-called inaccessible- while he had been married for four years and a half with the most perfect wife. He was lacking of ambition and did not look for a better stead than this small job in a grocery shop, grumbling ceaselessly against his lean incomes.
    Such was Sam.

Without that Friday 13th and those mutual friends, they never would have been invited at the same party ' anti-superstition' and she wouldn't have loved him "to life and to death"

Kind, always evenly tempered, she was everybody's friend... and mostly men's who were lusting after her.
But, she didn't care at all, for, as good as gold, she was dreaming about the perfect husband.
    Such was marion.

On the other hand, a very handsome man, more mature, athletic and smart, whose thick and brown hair was perfectly parted. His eyes were irresistible, darker than a deep night. His glowing smile was creating two charming dimples in his cheeks. He was using all that to charm as many women as he could, preferably the so-called unapproachable ones, whereas he has been married for four years and a half with the most perfect wife. - On one side, a pretty woman, barely in her thirties, blonde, with a meticulous short haircut and big blue eyes under long lashes as obvious as a baby's. Always dressed fashionably and rather smartly. Quite a simple woman, she had left her native countryside to be closer to the nearest big city and immediately found a job as a secretary, which she performed with zeal. Likable, always in a fair mood, she was everyone's friend ... especially her suitors'! But she didn't let anything come of them, wise as an image , for she dreamt of the perfect husband.
    Such was Marion.

    - On the other, a very handsome man, more mature, sportive and elegant, whose thick brown head of hair was parted in a perfect line. His eyes were irresistable, darker than midnight. His dazzling smile sucked in two charming dimples. He used all of this to charm as many women as he could -- preferably the so-called hard-to-get ones -- while he had been married for four-and-a-half years to the most perfect of wives. He lacked ambition and aspired for nothing better than this little job in a grocery store, grousing non-stop about his meager pay.
    Such was Sam.

Had there not been that Friday the 13th and those friends in common, they would never have been invited to the same anti-superstition party, and she would not have loved him "in life and death", at first sight!

My best wishes for you and your family.

    Oooh Violet,
    Gifted poet,
    Your high-end French writing
    Is amazing.
And I had a wild time.
    Wild? Say, prime!

    - On one side, a pretty woman, nearly thirty, blonde, neat close cropped hair, wide blue eyes fringed with long lashes, as ingenuous as child’s. Always smartly dressed up, say, properly. Very simple, she had left her native countryside to join the nearest big city and had at once been hired as a secretary, a job that she was holding zealously. Kind, even-tempered, she was everyone’s friend… especially male’s lusting after her. But she did not care about them, as good as gold, for she dreamt of a perfect husband.
    So was Marion.

    - On the other side, a very handsome man, rather middle-aged, athletic and smart, whose brown thick hair was straight parted. His eyes were irresistible, more dark than a deep night. His bright smile was digging two nice dimples into his cheeks. Of all that he made use to win as many females as he can over – preferably the so-called inaccessible – whereas he had been married four and a half year long to the most perfect spouse. He had no job pretensions and didn’t look up beyond that casual work in a grocer’s shop, keeping grumbling at his pittance.
    So was Sam.

Hadn’t it been that Friday the Thirteen and that mutual friends, they would never have been both invited to the very same anti-superstition party… and she would not have loved him, at first glance, to her dying day.

Looking forward to what’s happening to the black underwear of our innocent young thing.

Always stylishly and rather wisely dressed. Quite modest, she had left her native countryside to go to the nearest city where she had immediately found a secratary job which she fulfilled with zeal. Kind, even-tempered, she was everyone's friend.....particularly her sycophants! But, she never paid any attention to them, as good as gold, because she was dreaming of a perfect husband.
    Such was Marion.

The other, a very good-looking man, maturer, athletic and elegant, whose thick and dark hair was separated by a perfect parting. His irresistible eyes were darker than a deep night. His sparkling smile made his cheeks with two charming dimples. He took advantage of all that in order to charm as many women as he could, preferably the so-called inacessible ones, even though he had been married for four years and a half with the most perfect wife. Hello !

    - On one side, a pretty woman, around her thirties, blonde with short neat hair, big blue eyes with long eyelashes as ingenuous as kid's ones. Always dressed up and quite normally. She had simply left her countryside where she was born to move closer to the nearest big city and had immediately found a job as a secretary that she performed with zeal. Friendly and always in a good-mood, she was everyon's friend.. and especially the friend of the men that wanted to date her ! But she didn't really care about it, as good as gold, because she dreamed of the perfect husband.
    Such was Marion.

    - On the other side, a very handsome man, more mature, sportive and elegant whose brown and thick hair was divided by a perfect line. He had irresestible eyes, darker than midnight. His bright smile made two charming dimples appear on his cheeks. He used all these things to seduce as many women as he could - with a preference for the so caled hard to get ones while he had been married to the most perfect wife for four years and a half. He lacked of ambition and didn't look for anything better than his little job in a grocery store and always complaining about his low incomes.
    Such was Sam.

If there hadn't been this Friday 13 and their common friends, they wouldn't have been invited to the same anti-superstition party.. and she wouldn't have loved him for better or for worse since the first sight !

On one hand, there was an attractive woman, only just about thirty with very short fair hair that was neatly trimmed. Her big blue eyes were fringed with long eyelashes and gave her an ingenuous child's look.
She was always smartly and rather simply clad.

But,as good as gold, she paid scant attention to them because she was dreaming of the perfect husband.
    So was Marion.

On the other hand, there was a very handsome man, more mature, sportive and elegant whose thick brown hair was divided by a perfect parting. His jet-black eyes were irresistible and darker than a pitch-black night. His dazzling smile adorned his cheeks with two ravishing dimples.
He used all that to charm as many women as he could - preferably the so-called ones out of reach- although it was four years and a half since he was married with the most perfect wife. He had a lack of ambition and he didn't try to find something better than his small job in a grocery, keeping grumbling at his scanty income.

    Hello violet

On one side a pretty woman, hardly in her thirties, blond with a neat haircut, her eyes wide and blue with long eyelashes, as innocent as those of a child.
Always dressed fashionably and rather moderately. Rather humble, she had left her native country to reach the nearest big town where she had quickly found a job as a secretary that she held down with passion. Kind, even-tempered, she was the friend of everyone and especially of the men who wanted her! But good as gold she didn't think much of them, because she was dreaming of the perfect husband.

On the other side, a very smart man, more mature, athletic and handsome, whose thick brown hair disjoined in a perfect parting.
He had fascinating eyes, darker than the deep night. His dazzling smile made appear two charming dimples. He used all of these devices to seduce as many women as he could - in preference, the supposedly unapproachable ones - while he had been married for four years and a half to the most perfect of the wives. Hello Violet,

On the one hand, a pretty woman, hardly thirty, fair-haired with a short very neat cutting, wide blue eyes fringed with long eyelashes, as ingenuous as a child's ones. Always smartly and quiete properly dressed. Very plain, she had left her native country to join the nearest big town and had immediatly found there a job of secretary which she had with zeal. Nice even-tempered, she was the friend of everybody... particulary of the men who lusted after her. But she attached no importance to them.
That was the way Marion was.

On the other hand, a very handsome man, more mature, athletic and smart, whose the dark and thick hair separates to draw a perfect line. His eyes were compelling, more mysterious than the black night. His dazzling smile formed two charming dimples on his cheek. He used that to charm as many women as possible in preference the so-called inacessible so he has been married for four years a half with the most perfect wife. He lacked ambition and contented himself with this cassual job in a grocery and was always grousing about his small income.
That was the way Sam was.

Without this friday the thirteenth and these commun friends, they would have never been invited for the same party against the superstition and she wouldn't have loved him for life ant first glance.

Ouf! Et tout ça pour, peut-être, un ZERO!

He used all that to seduce as many women as he could -specially those so-called out of reach- although being married for four years and a half with the most perfect of women .He lacked ambition and was not looking for better than that little job in a grocer's shop, while continuously grumbling at his poor income .
    Such was Sam.

Had not been that Friday 13th and their mutual friends, they would never have been invited to the same anti-superstition party .. and she never had loved him "to life and death", at the first glance !

---Pour les non-francophones ou "les innocents aux mains pleines",une "oie blanche" est une jeune femme candide, innocente, qui ne se méfie pas de certaines ruses (masculines ,évidemment !).C'est une expression idiomatique ,donc impossible à traduire telle quelle. Et des "dessous"..sont des sous-vêtements. Donc une" oie blanche " devrait avoir des dessous de blancheur quasi-virginale ! C'est un attelage linguistique ,fait pour attirer l'oeil.(et cela a marché!)

--on one side...on the other side =on (the) one hand..on the other hand ( ou one)
-- in her thirties .Un peu plus : in her early thirties # in her late thirties (les dernières) ."la soixantaine lourdement entamée " comme a dit C. Deneuve.
    --fair-haired :blond "naturel" (adj.composé):blond(e):convient ici,car vous verrez la suite .symbole plus "glamour" et cliché.Il ne faut pas oublier le duel "blanc/noir";
--to do one's hair :se coiffer. To comb("b" muet"):se peigner.to brush:se brosser . To groom :s'apprêter (to groom a horse.;and" here comes the bride, big ,fat and wide . .here comes the groom as thin as a broom !"(le jeune marié).(cela s'appelle avoir des connaissances! A chanter sur Mendelsshon)).
--To part : se séparer. To be parted :être séparé .a parting :une raie.
    --ingenuous eyes as those of a child (cplt de nom)=as a child's (ones):génitif générique.La candeur du regard d'enfant .
--simple ( sans complication),plain( clear, unsophisticated),modest (not rich or not proud),humble.
---a city =a town with a business centre.
    ---to work as...
---To hold ,to hold down, to perform zealously.
    ---kind: gentille ,brave,serviable..
---in good mood (moon.:lunatique ou pas )si good, ily a des "bad" .Elle est d'humeur égale: donc even-tempered.
---to want = to lust (désir )"I want you,I want you, I waaaaant youuuu! That's all I want to say !"(The Beatles)" # to want veut aussi dire :vouloir très fort, manquer de ,avoir besoin (= to need)"All you need is love ,love is all you need"(The Beatles !)."This tea still wants sugar".
Question de charme et de goût.
---idiomatic :sage comme une image : as good as gold.
---Quatre ans et demi :durée écoulée ="for" + tps composé:present perfect continuous ou past p.cont.(si forme active+ing ) si forme passive+P.Passé .
---Telle était.:So was;such was ;this way was;this was the way Marion was.Such was peut rendre directement tout ce qui fait la personne. So was Marion (quoique juste)est ambigu :Marion aussi.

    hello dear Violet,

here is my theme, sent here from my bed ;-)
looking forward to your answer !

On the one hand, a pretty fair-haired woman, barely in her thirties, with a very tide short hair-cut and blue eyes fringed with long lashes, as guileless as those of a child. Always coquettishly dressed, still rather discreetly. All unpretentious, she had left her native country(side) to go up to the closest big town and immediately found there a job as a secretary that she filled zealously.Nice and always even-tempered, she was a friend for everyone...mostly for the men who kept lusting after her.
She nevertheless set little value on it for she was as good as gold and dreaming of the perfect husband.
    Such was Marion.

On the other hand, a very handsome man, maturer, athletic and elegant, whose brown thick hair was perfectly parted. His eyes, darker than the deep night, were fascinating. His bursting smile let two lovely dimples appear on his cheeks. He used it all to seduce as many women as he could, preferably to so-called un-get-at-able, while he was/had been (?quelle forme choisir) married for four years and a half to the most perfect wife.He lacked ambition and was not looking for a better position than that job in a grocery, unceasingly grumbling at his little income.
    Such was Sam.

Had it not been that friday 13 and those mutual friends, they would not have ever been to the same "anti-superstition" party...and she would not have loved him "???" at the first sight.

Quite difficult, this one, er ?
    Good work, sweet Violet !

EX: Two very nice medium-height short brown-haired blue-eyed French female moderators!(and I bet one of them is brown-eyed!)

    ---Creuser,façonner :to dig,to make,to form,to suck in,to hollow."A chacun sa vérité".
---To lack : manquer de : transitif. He lacked ambition.# to want# to need# to miss (regret).Verbe ponctuel et constat. pas de be+ing.
---To look for, to attempt .
---a casual job :un "boulot" tout ordinaire. A small job. Pas little (il n'y tient pas ).
---to be contented with : se satisfaire de.
---low income. short wages.
Subj.non périphrastique: "n'y eût-il eu...." hadn't there been.
"To life and to death"(eux deux ou elle seule). Her "dying day" est joli.Mais il faudra voir avec la suite..
--- At first sight: dès qu'il est apparu devant elle. At (the) first glance (elle est donc coquine!): elle a choisi de le regarder (malheur!!)."As you like it", anyway.
To dream about (vague): rêvasser ,songer.

My backbone is shot through"!
    3) D'un nom : quick-tempered, even-tempered, bad-tempered, quick-witted,ink-blotted, dark-haired, blue-eyed, bare-footed (pieds nus), broad-shouldered, ,a three-storeyed house (storied US),narrow-minded..a white-skinned swimmer..Vous avez compris.

    " J'arrrriive",donc .

" Sweet lamb in black underwear*."

--- On one side, a pretty woman, in her fresh thirties, blonde, with short and neatly trimmed hair . Her wide blue eyes were enhanced by a fringe of long eyelashes and as ingenuous as a child's. Always dressed in the fashion, she didn't aim to be particularly appealing. Quite simple , she had left her native countryside to go and settle down in the nearest big city where she had soon found a job as a secretary which she performed zealously. Pleasant, always even-tempered, she was everyone's friend ..especially males' lusting after her. Actually, she could not care less , since she was dreaming of the perfect husband*.
    Such was Marion.

On the other side, a very handsome man, more mature, athletic and smart, whose thick dark hair divided in a very neat parting . His irresistible eyes were darker velvet than the deep night. His gorgeous(dazzling) smile hollowed two lovely dimples in his cheeks.. He perfectly knew how to use all that to seduce as many women as he could..mostly the so- called inaccessible ones , even though he had been married to the most perfect wife for four years and a half. He lacked ambition, contented with his casual job in a grocery store, yet constantly grumbling at his low income.
    Such was Sam.

Hadn't there been that Friday 13th (the thirteenth) and those mutual friends, they never would have been invited to the same anti-superstition party...and she would not have fallen in love " for life and to death" at first sight.

    ----------------------------------------------

No ?

    * Underwear =uncountable..in the beginning. Undergarments :countable..and informally : undies. "Sweet lamb in black undies",I shall say.

    Dear Violet,
I am edified by the well-informed language information tips that back up your own descriptive discourse.
It's a pleasure to border a cultural background that is beyond me.
I had mistaken you in the beginning, thinking the text you handed over was your French translation of an English writer. So much the better. A rainbow needs mysterious hazy skies to show up.
Now we are all awaiting the moment the door at the far end of your secretive world lets new scents through.

Hello, I am late but I have worked on it to hard to not write my answer

On one hand, a beautiful woman, who is barely around thirthy, with blond hairs and a very well groomed short cut, large blue eyes, fringed by long lashes, as blunt as a child. Always dressed smartly and rather wisely. Very simple, she had left her native countryside to link up the nearest big city and she had found immediatly a job of secretary whose she has done with zeal. Amiable, always with the same mood, she was the friend of everyone... and particularly of the men who were lusting for her. But, she did not pay attention about that, sage like a picture, because she dreamt of the perfect husband.

On the other hand, a very handsome man, more mature, sporstman and smart, whose brown deep hairs were splited in a perfect parting. His eyes were irresistible, more dark than the deep night. His brightening smile digged his cheecks with two lovely dimples. He used all of that to attract so many women he could - by preference, self-styled inaccessible - as he had been married for four years and a half with the most perfect bride. He missed ambition and did not look better than this little job in a grocery, always groused against his lean income. Like was Sam.

If that December 13 were not existed and these mutual friends, they have never been invited at the same, anti-superstition evening and she has never loved "to the life, to the the death", from the first sight.
