Does globalization represent a risk for culture ?

Against the backdrop of globalization, the authors of 4 recent documents ponder the impact on culture. An article on the website classroom.synonym.com written by Eleanor McKenzie and a cartoon from the website moziru.com presents globalization as a dangerous process whereas the article by Andrew Hennigan on www.quora.com and the blog post by Joseph Sunde describes globalization as a safe opportunity because nation cultures are resilient. Is globalization a danger for culture ?

The authors concur that globalization is a process with concrete and visible effects. Mckenzie and Hennigan declare that all around the world-famous logos appears Sunde contends that it has a certain impact on countries economy and the cartoon presents globalization as a machine which transform peoples.

Globalization has an impact on economy and creates cultural disparities. Hennigan makes a plea for globalization because it improves countries economy, for example the Ireland economy. However, McKenzie claims that it is not the case for all countries, on the contrary the biggest part of country get poorer, more precisely 20 percent consume 80 percent of the production.

Nations culture (traditions, customs) look like disfigured, replaced and imposed by dominant cultures. Mckenzie avers that American culture is spreading all around the world and replaces other cultures especially by their firms implantations and their control on internet. As for the picture, it also describes Western nations (personified by Uncle Sam) as someone who destroys diversity and imposes a physical unity without diversity. Yet, Hennigan refutes this thesis and says that culture is more that what you see. Furthermore, thoses Western Nations don’t really impose their culture because the Western culture is itself an alloy of imported culture. Even if concepts are imported in other countries, they are custom by local population. Sunde qualified his statement, he endorses the opinion that globalization can do damages on culture but it can be averted if populations use it as a complement and not a substitute, by being proud of their culture.

Impact of globalization on cultures can be beneficial if globalization is cleverly directed. Mckenzie also presents the other side of the definition of globalization: a process which allow peoples to pool values, and he also adds that if richer country import more from “poor” countries, it will enable those countries to get richer. Sunde agree with Mckenzie and adds that globalization can even be an opportunity for nations. Globalization can allow peoples to share their culture and made peoples even more proud of it.

Ultimately, globalization has a real impact on culture but this impact can be dangerous but also beneficent if great used.

    Bonjour

Cela me semble correct. J'ai quand même un doute à propos de "As| for the picture, it also describes Western nations (personified by Uncle Sam)..." "Uncle Sam" incarne les USA, mais les nations occidentales en général ? Surprenant !

Ensuite, j'ai en effet peut-être mal interprété le document, je vais d'ailleurs reprendre le corrigé officiel pour étudier leur plan et les idées clefs et les comparer à mon travail !
