    Many/ positive statement

    Hello
Could you help me please ?
Is it correct or wrong ?
There are many famous people in this film.
Is using many in the above sentence incorrect?
Some say ( many ) is not preferable or cannot be used in the positive sentence unless it is modified by ( so or too).

    Here is what is said:
B Many and much with affirmative verbs
Many is possible when preceded (i.e. modified) by a good\ a great
Both are possible when are modified by so\as\too
I made a good many friends there.
He has so many jobs that …
She read as much as she could.
They drink too much ( gin)
When not modified, many as object or part of the object is usually replaced by a lot\ lots of + noun or by a lot or lots ( pronoun )

Can I understand or get it that ( many) is never used in the positive sentences?

    Hello,
Yes, that's what I was taught.
Nevertheless, much and many can be seen in affirmative sentences.
    I've done that many times.
I typed "many casualties linguee" and all the sentences I get are in the affirmative form.

So fighting against many in an affirmative sentence looks hopeless to me.
