    Hello.
Remember that some is for affirmative statements and any is for negative statements and questions.

These are OK other than starting with capital letters and punctuation:
There isn't any electricity in the house.
Is there a swimming pool in your area ()
there's an egg in the fridge ()
there are some plants in my bedroom ()

Complete with the correct form of he verb be; use is for singular and are for plural. Don't forget to invert if it is a question.

This one is OK other than starting with capital letters and punctuation:
are there any people in the swimming pool ()

    Try it again.
    Sherry

Hello. Much better, but you do need to add punctuation! It will help you to see if you need the inverted form.
There IS a computer on the desk-There is is correct for 1 computer.
There IS any water in the desert-Incorrect-if you use any, it must be negative or a question.
There ARE any houses on the island-Incorrect-same as above.
ARE there any people in the swimming pool- Are there is the correct form for a question, but there is no question mark.
IS there any traffic on the road- Is there is the correct form for a question, but again, there is no question mark.
    Sherry

    Hello!

Any = je ne suis pas sûr du tout de la réponse, some = je suppose que l'on me répondra oui.
Is there some bread? Je demande si on peut me passer le pain alors que je suis à l'autre bout de la table et que je ne le vois pas. Toutefois, je m'attends à ce que l'on me dise qu'il y en a (et qu'on me le passe).
Is there any bread?

Pour la négation, on utilise "not any".

En ce qui concerne there is, there are, on accorde avec le complément juste après :
There is milk in the fridge.
There are birds in the tree.
There is one pair of glasses and two pairs of sunglasses in my suitcase.
There are two pairs of sunglasses and one pair of glasses in my suitcase (Rappelez-vous, on accorde avec le complément le plus proche. C'est comme si on disait : There is one pair of glasses and there are two pairs of sunglasses in my suitcase).

    Bonne journée !
