    Correction/Exercice
    Message de vaiana posté le 16-02-2019 à 15:00:09 (S | E | F)
    Hello,
here is a little exercise I've just done, could you help me to correct it please?
Construire des phrases correctes en procédant à tous les ajustements nécessaires.

    17. He acted … [locution prépositionnelle] fear (= par peur).
    He acted for fear.

    18. She is grateful [him, his help].
She is grateful to his help.

    19. Remind [me, post this letter] (= fais-moi penser à)
Remind me to post this letter!

    20. MUCH… [he, love (PRESENT), her], he does not want to marry her. (= quel que soit son amour pour elle…)
I don't know with the "much..."

    21. The roads are icy, why NOT… [try, go by train], just for once?
The roads are icy, why not try to go by train, just for once?

    22. He [get (PAST), himself, notice] (= il s’est fait remarquer)
    He got himself noticed.

    23. This [set (PAST), them, think] (= ceci les a fait réfléchir)
This set them thinking. (que veut dire "set" dans cette phrase ?)

    24. She [wheedle (PAST), her father, good humour] (énoncé dit “résultatif” → elle a mis son père de bonne humeur en le cajolant)
She wheedled her father good humour.

Much as I appreciate you, I won't do this one for you ! Or maybe I just did !

    21. The roads are icy, why NOT… [try, go by train], just for once?
The roads are icy, why not try to go by train, just for once? ok

    Thank you very much!

    18. She is grateful [him, his help].
She is grateful to him for his help.(to + la personne for + l'objet)

    19. Remind [me, post this letter] (= fais-moi penser à)
Remind me to post this letter! ok

    20. MUCH… [he, love (PRESENT), her], he does not want to marry her. (= quel que soit son amour pour elle…)
Much as I appreciate you, I won't do this one for you ! Or maybe I just did ! Thanks!
Much as he loves her, he doesn't want to marry her.

    21. The roads are icy, why NOT… [try, go by train], just for once?
The roads are icy, why not try to go by train, just for once? ok

    22. He [get (PAST), himself, notice] (= il s’est fait remarquer)
    He got himself noticed. ok

    23. This [set (PAST), them, think] (= ceci les a fait réfléchir)
This set them thinking. (que veut dire "set" dans cette phrase ?) mettre en mouvement

    24. She [wheedle (PAST), her father, good humour] (énoncé dit “résultatif” → elle a mis son père de bonne humeur en le cajolant)
She wheedled her father into good humour.
Pourquoi "into" ? Je ne vois pas trop de mouvement dans ce cas là

    Alors, regardez mieux:
    wheedle (redirected from wheedled)
Also found in: Thesaurus, Legal, Idioms.
    whee·dle (wēd′l, hwēd′l)
    v. whee·dled, whee·dling, whee·dles
    v.tr.
    1. To obtain through the use of flattery or guile: a swindler who wheedled my life savings out of me.
    2. To persuade or attempt to persuade by flattery or guile; cajole: "They could marry on the fortune Miss Starling had wheedled her employer into leaving her" (W. Somerset Maugham).

    whee•dle (ˈʰwid l, ˈwid l)

    v. -dled, -dling. v.t.
    1. to try to influence (a person) by flattering or beguiling words or acts; cajole.
    2. to persuade (a person) by such words or acts: She wheedled him into going with her.
    3. to obtain (something) by artful persuasions: I wheedled a new car out of my father.

Ca se rapproche de : She sings the baby to sleep, il y a un mouvement qui va de la non décision à la décision, de l'action non réalisée à l'action réalisée.
