    Hello
Adverbs of a finished action (last week, last year , last month etc...)
Which is correct to use with past simple or present perfect?
For long ago , we learned, read that the adverbs of a finished action are not commonly used with the( present perfect)and many said, " only can be used with the ( past tenses )", and especially the past simple.

Here in this page it is said : Link

" The present perfect tense is not used with adverbs of past time. Examples are: yesterday, last week, last year etc. "
while here in this page an example is used : Link

I haven't been on holiday ___ last year.
    for
    since

    Hello
The preterite is required when an action is nailed into the past.
I saw that film yesterday, two weeks ago, last year...

The present perfect is used with for + a length of time, duration or since + a date, a nail driven into the past, or a preterite.

I arrived in the area in 1981, 38 years ago.
I have been living here for 38 years, since 1981, since I left Burgundy.

I haven't been on holiday for a while, since last year.

You couldn't say I have seen that film last week.
You can say : I have already seen that film. I saw it last week.

    Hello
thank you very much dear teacher gerondif,
    I got it
They tell the rule, but don't explain it.
Since + last week since + last month since + last year ( all correct ) \ present perfect
all wrong in the present perfect, if are not preceded by ( since )
All ( OK) \ past simple ( without since )

I finished my work last week. OK
I have finished my work last week. wrong
I haven't gone to cinema since last week . OK
I went to cinema last week. OK
I have gone to cinema last week. wrong
