If clause - Present
How to formulate a condition using present in French?
In French, the structure of the sentence is almost the same as in English. For instance, the verb agreement is exactly the same.
English: If + subject + verb (present) + direct object, subject + verb (future) + direct object.
French: Si + subject + verb (present) + direct object, subject + verb (future) + direct object.
Examples : If you like French, I will try to help you. => Si tu aimes le français, j'essaierai de t'aider.
If I eat too much, I will be sick. => Si je mange trop, je serai malade.
Note: As in English, you can invert the two clauses. Furthermore, 'S'il' or 'S'ils' are clipped: 'S'il' or 'S'ils'.
Example : Si tu aimes le français, je t'aiderai. => Je t'aiderai si tu aimes le Français.
If you like French, I will help you. => I will help you if you like French.
Less easy, isn't it ?!?
So, let's do a few exercices... Try to agree the verb correctly! Good luck
